Mountain Biking Allsopp Park

***   Add a review
#64 of 165 mountain bike trails in Arkansas
#4,299 in the world

A network of trails inside Allsopp Park in heart of Little Rock. This is a great
system of trails that makes for a great after-work ride. There are several rocky
and rooty technical sections, and you can choose your route once you know
the different trails. It is possible to get 10+ miles of trail if you ride them all.
Well maintained. One of the best inner city park singletracks that I know of.

Getting there
There are several starts but the easiest place to park and ride is to take
Kavanaugh Blvd and park where it intersects Rose St. There are a lot of
shops nearby (ICEHOUSE, DAMgood Pies). You can also park at the
intersection of Cantrell Road and Alsopp Park Road. This basically puts you
at the bottom of the trail and will have to climb up. NOTE: there are trails on
both the North and South side of Alsopp Park Rd.

This is a good short trail. The north trail is fairly overgrown, but technically challenging and fun. The best part of the south trail, in my opinion, begins just off of Beechwood. Get on there and stay left, and it's a pretty fun, relatively flowy singletrack. BUT watch out for the razor rocks and run parralel to the trail. I suggest hopping off and walking over these to protect your tires.

Also, from the bottom, just take the paved trail that dumps out at the Baptist Church. This will make your life far easier. Climbing the trails is pretty tough, and you'll be hurting for traction unless you have some pretty aggressive tires.

Not bad for the convience of being in town but for someone traveling for a good single track it was a let down.

Great smaller trail with a few new washouts that are getting fairly technical if you hit them going uphill or with some speed. Don't forget about the steep downhill section which the entrance is located on Kavanaugh blvd 300 ft south of Crestwood drive near the edghill neighborhood. Overall it is a smaller trail but pretty intense and not for the people just learning to ride mtb's.

It was so hard and not fun. I needed a motor to get going. It seemed like all work and no play. Not my kind of an afternoon.

There is a lot of construction going on at the corner of Cantrell and Hillcrest, so your only option right now is parking at the tennis courts off of Cedar Hill and riding from there. I have only been three or four times, but have yet to find eight miles of trail on either side of the park.

I suppose this is a decent trail if you are looking for a quick ride after work. The spring storms knocked quite a few trees down, so expect to get off your bike a few times. Personally, I am staying away from this park until the construction is finished and the city gets out there and cleans those trees off the trails. Knowing Little Rock, I probably will never see those trails again.

Good ride, when you get to the main park sign, behind the sign there is the north trail entrance. This trail is only a few miles long. However if you go over the bridge and to the park area, there is a one way road. Along that road is another connection to the remaining trails. Some were well marked and flow very well, others were harder to follow. There is a sign with a map of all the trails at the park. The only problem is somebody put spray paint making it hard to read.

Not a good trail to ride. It was only two miles and trails were not taken care of at all.

I didnt like this trail at all. its largely unmarked so you'd have to know exactly where you are going. i hit a few dead ends. i only saw one or two switchbacks and too many straight runs. i much prefer constant change in direction and elevation as opposed to long climbs and descents.

Not a real long trail but very close if your in the Little Rock area. Nothing real technical about this trail, most folks should do fine on this trail. There is a small a climb coming up from the park. Good trail if you are looking to get a quick ride in. For more information go to http://www.mtbark.com* Review edited 8/18/2012

Great place to ride, and as the description says, a great place for an afterwork or lunch time ride. I wish we had a place like this to ride near me.

Short but sweet trail. There is a little climbing involved but its not real hard. Lots of big roots to deal with. For more information check out www.mtbark.com

Awesome inner city single track. I used to ride this several times a week and it is a good after work ride. Watch out for hikers/walkers/joggers. It is bi directional.
