The trail alternates from forest to meadow along Crescent Cr and eventually begins long, gradual grades that climb up 1300’ in 3.5 miles. Spruce forest give way to Birch & Aspen as the trail drops into the Crescent Creek Canyon and then on to Crescent Lake. A trail continues on around the southern shore of the lake but is very primitive and not maintained.

At mile post 45 of the Sterling Highway turn onto Quartz Creek rd, near Sunrise Inn. Follow road left at the fork eventually passing Quartz & Crescent Creek campgrounds, trailhead is on right at mile 3.5 .
This is a super fun trail with roller coaster ups and downs and sharp curves in areas, gradually ascending. Has great vistas along the way and ends at a beautiful lake. This makes for a super fun downhill ride on the way back. There are some technical spots, which I sometimes walk and sometimes attempt. Have done this multiple times with groups of friends. I now live in WA and miss this trail. It's my favorite. I saw a bear at the lake once so be on the lookout.
