This is a 6.5 mile long gravel road that takes you from 600 feet above sea level to 2600 feet above sea level. The road can have a bit of traffic on it at times but for the most part it is bike friendly. The road is pretty much snow free and dry in May, it is great to train on before the rest of the trails in Anchorage open.
The climb is steep in a few parts and will take about an hour or so to get up but the ride down is very fast and fun! This road is partially on Fort Richardson so a helmet is a must!

Take the Glenn HWY out of Anchorage; take the Arctic Valley Exit (the FIRST exit after the Muldoon exit). Go strait till you get past the Golf Course then turn onto the 2nd left to park (if you pass a water treatment plant you've gone too far). Start of the road 61.228515, -149.654088 Turn around point 61.246687,-149.534955.
Arctic Valley is a dusty washboard of a dirt road. Stout climb for training. I wouldn't call it a trail. Long hard climb for conditioning. Go to Kincaid for fun.
