Mountain Biking Gene's Loop

****   Add a review
#43 of 97 mountain bike trails in Alabama
#4,596 in the world

A great beginner trail to hone your skills. The trail is mostly flat with one steep climb (blowhard hill). Fun rooty sections with small and easy obstacles.

This trail is no longer here due to logging

Found "parts" of this trail while riding today but it looks like the majority of it has been wiped out from bulldozers and loggers. I saw several signs that seemed promising but only ever found about 1 mile of actual trail. IF, there is still a trail out there, it looks like you might want a local to show you around so you can follow it.

I went looking for these trails today and couldn't seem to find any singletrack. I had a map with me but everywhere I tried to get on the trail either the trail wasn't there OR it was an ATV-type trail. I did find a tiny bit of singletrack (less than 1/4 mile) on the east side of Hwy 9 but it quickly looped back to the fire road. Anyone know if these trails are still around?

This was one of my favorite trails and has recently been messed up. The second half of the trail (the same side of hwy 9 as the hunters camp) has been logged and bulldozed. This is a serious bummer. The first half is still a good place to ride, but this cuts the distace to probably 3-4 miles in total. On a positive note, locals are really working hard to get this trail back to what it was.* Review edited 4/3/2009

This trail is fast and fun. Locals are improving this trail all of the time. It is super smooth, has one tough climb (blow hard hill) and one fast decent. A great trail for anyone.* Review edited 8/25/2008
