Mountain Biking 7 Up

****   Add a review
#89 of 691 mountain bike trails in Utah
#2,385 in the world

The map and description is for a one way ride from Magnificent 7 / 7 Up trailhead down to the Monitor/Merrimac parking overlook on Highway 191. Note that the ride can be done in either direction and is well suited for intermediate riders. There are sections of singletrack and doubletrack on the route. The ride can be done as either a shuttle or an out and back from either trailhead. This is another of Moab's highly scenic routes.

I liked this trail - it allows for some pleasant down-slope speed which is a nice change from the intense technicality of many of the Moab trails.
I used to park my car at the car park on Highway 191 above the Magnificent 7 road head. At the bottom of the tail I'd hide my bike under the trees and hitch-hike back up to my car.

Bring your beginner friends to this trail who are ready to transition into intermediate rides. Ride it from Gemini Bridges down to the Hwy 313 switchback. 7 UP Trail presents stretches of singletrack for newer riders to be challenged and then the rider can mentally rest on the wider two track, plus you can talk technique in the wide sections. I think of this a fun, satisfying social ride.

I parked at Gemini Rd & Hwy 313 junction. Rode one way. Took a bike lock along and locked my bike to a sign at the switchback and hitched back to my vehicle. Enabled a fast morning ride. Good opportunity for the rest of your carload to ride the wide shoulder of Hwy 313 and the Canyon Pathway back to Moab. You could even hookup at Brand system before returning completely to town.
