Mountain Biking Mag 7

*****   Add a review
#6 of 691 mountain bike trails in Utah
#55 in the world

This is a series of 7 trails ("Magnificent 7") which make up a new (mostly) single-track incarnation of the classic Gemini Bridges shuttle descent. The seven trails are: Bull Run, Arth's Corner, Little Canyon, Gold Bar, Golden Spike, Poison Spider and Portal. Gold Bar is 1.2 miles of singletrack and 2.3 miles of 4x4 road. Golden Spike is 5.2 miles of nasty 4x4 road. Poison Spider is 7.4 miles of rough, churned up 4x4 road. Choose your poison. The singletrack at the upper end (including a loop called the "Great Escape") are great fun and make any inconvenience totally worth it. The attached GPS map suggests a variation of singletrack down to the end of "Little Canyon," then take the "Gold Bar Rim 4x4 back to Gemini Bridges Road to it's lower terminus (and where you want your shuttle vehicle to be waiting).

Getting there
This is best done as a shuttle run to the upper end of Gemini Bridges Road. Take US 191 north to Utah 313 (the road to Dead Horse Point). Follow Utah 313 for about 12.5 miles to the Gemini Bridges Road turnoff to your left (less than a mile past the Mineral Bottom turnoff). You can start your ride here or continue driving down Gemini Bridges Road for a little over a mile to the TH for Bull Run.

Sick descent through some of Moab's funnest, flowy slickrock. A great way to introduce yourself to some of the area's notable descents without being too technical.

This trail has double black diamond rating for a reason, which isn't exposure but very technical descent. For me this is another example of hiking trail that only true experts can actually ride without walking.

You either like it or not. It's a great trail with cool views 360 degrees around. But better keep your eyes open for some unexpected trail features.

Great mix of different trails in one ride. First portion is somewhat intermediate while expert is truly expert part, where you need every skill you have and a bit more.
Start early, take at least a gallon of water and enjoy it.

It is part of the Magnificent Seven trail system. It's technically interesting for it's entire (short) length and the views are great.

It is perhaps the least magnificent of the Magnificent Seven Trails. But it's still fun. It's not technically challenging.

EXCELLENT trail right outside of Moab! There are all sorts of loops to do up here but my favorite it to park at the top and take Bull Run -> Great Escape -> Gemini road back into Moab. This trail offers some excellent views, a great decent, with a bit of tech but nothing to gnarly.

One of the best trail systems in Moab. We've ridden it a few times now, and it's always a blast. Bull Run is probably the most fun downhill/flow trail of the system, but most all of the trails are great. We have always started from Bull Run/7Up Trailhead and ridden to the lookout point on Golden Spike, but I think future rides will eliminate the Golden Spike piece. While the view up top is pretty sweet, the Golden Spike trail just isn't scenic, very technical, and brutally steep. So unless you just want the climbing and tech challenge of Golden Spike or you are making a shuttle loop, I would recommend riding any of the other trails again if you want the mileage. Our recent ride = Bull Run, visited Gemini Bridges, Great Escape, Little Canyon, Gold Bar, Golden Spike to lookout, return Little Canyon to Arth's, Getaway, Mag 7 to return. @30 miles and 3k ft. of climbing.

This is absolutely one of my favorite trails I have ever ridden. Skip the crappy jeep road and drive all the way down to the trailhead of great escape. I like to ride a figure 8 of great escape to little canyon to Arth's corner to Getaway and then come back down bull run right back to our car. The slickrock on great escape will have you smiling fondly remembering the ride for long after.

This was my first trail in the Moab area and it was awesome! Mostly downhill, variety of trail obstacles, some slick rock sections, great views!

Instead of riding down the dirt road from Hwy 313 to access Bull Run, you can now ride a new section of singletrack starting about 50 yards in from 313 that connects to the original upper Bull Run section.

Another 5 star system for Moab! There's lots of variety, crazy scenery, and many ways to customize the length and difficulty of the ride depending on your time, fitness and skill level. There truly is something for everyone here, but it's all good and should please any discerning rider. A continual blast!
