Coler Mountain Bike Preserve

Just rode Esthers trail...was good but not great compared to the ride yesterday at Slaughter Pen

Solid 4 stars from me. Quality craftsmanship for these downhill runs, excellent jumps and table tops, cool hub area. But I try to be selective with my five stars, and the couple things holding me back from 5 stars are 1) the length of the downhill sections wasn't quite worth the continuous climbs back up (would prefer longer runs); and 2) not a ton of variety yet with 4 downhills. But make no mistake, this is quality stuff. Would just prefer longer runs for me.

Rode Bentonville, including Coler and Slaughter Pen, during the 2018 OuterBike and IMBA's Dirty 30. I'm giving Coler a 5, if for nothing else, the surprise of the kind of down hill fun they've built in such a small area with the limited elevation they have to work with. While there are several trails throughout Coler, it's the down hill runs most go there to ride. It's right a a mile (.9 actually) climb up Oscar's Loop from the parking lot to the "Hub", a three story metal structure that serves as the launch for the down hill trails. Fire Line is the intermediate run, and is great for just about any rider, as well as a warm up for the other trails. It's a nicely built flow trail with smooth berms and no shortage of 3-5' table tops, but no drops. Ride it a couple of times to get the layout, and you can have a real fun and fast blast on it. The only gotcha is the next to the last table top. For whatever reason, it's easy to over shoot, and the landing side seems to be taller then the ramp up side. There were three crashes on it the day we were there (witnessed two of them). All three over shot it (one by a LONG shot), with one rider braking a wrist. If you're more advanced, head back up and ride Cease and Desist, which is probably best described as Fire Line's big brother. Table tops are bigger, and there are some drops... 3-4 footers. For a finale, ride down Drop The Hammer. It's definitely and advanced run, with MANDATORY 8 foot gaps (no go arounds), and drops that look to be 10 feet. For more technical down hill fun, ride Rock Solid and Rock Soft. You can have a great afternoon riding at Coler. By the way, you don't need a full blown down hill bike. It's true what I've heard about Coler, it's built for trail bikes.

Great fun. Very well designed, mostly man made trail - berms, features and jumps. Climbs aren't terrible for the payoff. Guys at Mojo Bike Shop told us about the new section they are adding and gave us some directions. This addition is amazing as well and it's not even finished!

It's surprising to see so few reviews on this trail. We rode Oscar's all the way around but counter clockwise. Clockwise is likely to have better flow. It was also super cold today in the upper teens. Despite the cold the trail was really fun. We found fireline from the hub which is a series of fast rollers and terrific downhill berms. Rode it twice. Climbing back up is so worth it. We rode a portion of copperhead that was technical and rocky. Also super fun.

Rumor from the guys at mojo bike shop is that there are more trails on the way. We will make it back someday when temperatures are a bit more accommodating for riding. Northwest Arkansas is serious about mountain biking.

We just did the fire line a couple of times. Was great! Fast, fun, with some good jumps! NWA is the place to be for trial riding in Arkansas

Something for every skill level. Downhill is very fun. A must visit in bentonville. A great experience to ride a professionally built trail. Definitely recommend.

Went to Bentonville, AR on a whim after seeing lots of YouTube videos and having a vacation suddenly cancelled. It meant 3 days of riding and with Slaughter Pen/Blowing Springs and Back 40 not optional we had one day to work with. We debated tons of trails but by day 3 we were tired and didn't want to drive a lot so we decided to hit up Coler as the new "hub" was just completed. Once we got to the parking lot, we knew this was the place to be. Lots of cars and mountain bikers...on a Friday morning. It took about 500ft or riding on Oscar's loop to confirm we made the correct decision. Once we rounded the corner I saw a mix of like 4 different flow trails ending. Amazing! We rode for 2 hours and did almost everything out there (we missed the brand new enduro trail and most of Copperhead but did everything else. Oscar's was just pure rough and flowy singletrack, perfection in my mind. Rock Solid challenged me and I loved it with continual rock gardens into the two most photogenic berms I've seen. Fireline was flow trail bliss, by the end of one run I was infinitely better at landing table tops. Cease and desist was Fireline on steroids but with safe and well-made jumps til you get about half way then the optional wood features start, including the diving board. Someday. They were even roughing in more trail and making a new trailhead when we were there.

Yep, after all that sweet Bentonville riding, this is the place I still fantasize about. Can't wait to go back and bring a bigger bike and more skills!

Great mountain bike concept park. Gives a little bit of everything from nice flowing tread to rocky tech bits to big drop runs. The platform at the hub is just taking shape and already it is impressive. Some of the armoring on the trails has to be seen and ridden to be truly appreciated. The park is still under construction but already provides a fun challenging place to ride in a relatively small area. Can't wait until it is fully completed.
