The climb is long, but still fun. The downhill is awesome. Some technical bits, but nothing over the top without a bypass.

We tried the fat bikes here and it was incredible. It had snowed hours earlier and hid a bit of ice underneath. The swoops and curves were so much fun. Going back again to ride in the spring, summer or fall.

Love this trail. Beautiful scenery. great ride for most levels of rider. Each year I crave riding Smith Creek. My favorite part is riding through the drivers seat of the car.

Smith Creek is both a downhill and cross country trail. It is fun to climb because there are clever obstacles to negotiate as well as moderate grade. It seems like for every steep section there is a flat "rest" section right after. The downhill starting at "Feel The Love" is nice and easy at first and then the trail intensifies as you descend. The bottom section is like a roller coaster ride! You can follow the trail back to your car or head North and follow the trail to Tallis Ridge.

This is a fantastic trail. The views at the various lookouts are amazing, the riding up is super fun, and the descent is worth the climb.

This trail is also known as Holy Pail. An excellent map is available. Try Outbound Cycle on 97 North in Westbank (West Kelowna) town centre.

Over the last year or so (2008-2009) an incredible new downhill section has been built.

Not sure who built it, but kudos to the builder(s) because it is incredibly creative and a lot of hard work has obviously gone into it.

While you can still ride the old downtrack along Holy Pail and the ridge (also fun), the new downtrack is a smooth rolling downhill that is all natural berms as it snakes down a long gully to the bottom of the trail. The new downtrack crosses the uptrack in several locations (just after before and after marker 4, after marker 7, again just after marker 9, and between marker 10 & 11. I believe it officially starts at marker 12 near the old summit). This makes it easy to drop in at several locations depending on how much you want to climb.

It's blast to ride with drops, rollovers, and ride-around options on every feature. Totally rideable for XC, Freeride & downhill - the latter will have a long bike push to the top, though. This trail can't be shuttled...legally. Please don't.

On the way up, you'll be treated to some great switchbacks on the climb, some rolling sections, some technical features, and incredible views over Okanagan Lake. Any section that might be too challenging can easily be walked.

It's worth the few minutes it takes to find, and for the average, intermediate rider, about a 2.5-3 hour loop.

Keep your eyes open for deer, black bears, marmots, and birds.

Definitely one of the best, and least crowded trails in West Kelowna.* Review edited 5/16/2009
