****   Add a review
#2 of 119 mountain bike trails in Maine
#222 in the world

Trails are single track to ski and snowmobille trails. The mountain is rather small and you can easily ride al the trails here in 3 to 4 hours. No night riding. Good access to snowmobile trails in winter.

Getting there
To find the trail head drive to Bradbury Mt. State Park entrance and look for signs. ( Rt. 95 north to freeport exit then noth on Rt. 9) There is some o.k. climbs on ski trail to the top of the mountain. There is a sweet single track on the campground side of the park. $4 per person for entry. Very large parking lot, trailhead is easy to find and all trails are extremely well marked. Fun variety of trail types and trails are well maintained. Wonderful experience all around!!

As a beginner this was a great place to spend 3 hours on the bike. There's two sides flanking route 9, the one with Bradbury Mountain and the parking/picnic area is generally crowded with hikers. The other side, across route 9 with the campground is more for the bikers. There's a mix of wide and singletrack that's within pretty much anyone's skill level I would think although there are a couple of challenging technical sections that I had to try more than once. Generally I would say it was fun and the trails are well marked. Good place to ride.

As everyone says, there are a great variety of trails here. Most trails in the Portland area seem to have a lot of roots. I don't find Bradbury worse than most, but maybe I just haven't found the right spots.

Good variety of trails but just like everyone says, very rooty. I ride a low end guardrail so after a while I had to call it quits. Overall it's a great place though. Great technical bridges. Definitely worth going.

Went today in early march. Knew it was going to be muddy and the lower side was. There is plenty of riding here, from flowy to absolute nar on the mountain. Good for XC or Enduro. I ride a specialized Enduro 650 b with 160 mm of travel and it more than satisfied me. Great ride if your in the area. Bring money for admissions and have a blast

Rode the area today - people aren't kidding when they say there's a lot of erosion. A couple trails had an abundance of roots, not the fun kind, the kind where you're constantly battling, but some people might like that I suppose.

Anyways, the cool part about the park is there's a decent amount of variety, just need to find the right trail for you. Varies from beginner to intermediate/expert.

Bradbury, or as some call it Rootbury, has been too abused the last few years. There are still some nice trails. But Stravatizing of corners and roots becoming unbearable on some trails is causing the system to lose its luster. That being said, I still ride it every week during the summer.

Great selection of trail types. Challenging and fast, but not super technical.

Bradbury has a ton of trails. I have mainly gone on the back side across the road from the parking lot. Some fun single track and a fair amount of roots and rocks for technical stuff. There is a main wider road and a service road that turns into a creek exiting the park that has some nice drops and such, nothing big. Probably the best riding in the area!

One of the gnarliest trails @ Bradbury....Lots of roots, & rocks with some steep grades mixed in...Challenging ride in either direction that requires your "A" game.

Overall, I had a lot of fun at this Park. I had the most fun on the West side with the mountain, on Switchback and the Boundary Trail. Those two were a blast to ride. I also had a lot of fun on the east side, however, I wasn't that impressed with the "O" trail that a lot of people say is awesome. I rode most of it, and did not find it as much fun. It was a very technical challenge, but it seemed too technical. It was hard for me to get the flow. I think I rode the trail opposite of the way that most people ride it, and I also rode it later than the other trails, so I was probably getting pretty tired by that point. My favorites on the East side were Batcave and Fox West. I enjoyed all of the other intermediates on that side since they were beautiful, rolling singletrack.

    Reviewing Boundary Trail:

My second favorite trail at Bradbury, first being Switchback. There were some really hairy areas that had me on my toes. Some parts were so steep that I had to get WAY back on the bike, and even then I thought I might go over the bars because of some of the huge gnarly roots that I was going over. Had a blast on this trail. I rode it from the summit, and would recommend this direction, but I would like to try riding it the opposite way.

Very fun trail. By far my favorite at Bradbury. There were some very gnarly sections that were a blast to rip over. Only thing is I wish the trail was longer. I rode it twice and I am glad I did. It was really neat to climb to the summit and look at the beautiful view, then fly down this trail.

I rode here for the first time this evening in one of the junior races. It was a great time! It was my first race and it was a lot of fun! The trails were very well taken care of and were fairly challenging. Definitely worth the small fee and I would recommend the trail to a friend!

Im a regular at bradbury, riding it 3-4 times a month and i still dont get sick of the trails. There are so many options when riding bradbury, if your sick of the same loops, just turn around and ride them the other way, Favorite trail is definitely the boundary trail from the top of the mtn down, Super knarly if your on an XC bike, steep, rocky and rooty just stay to the left and go with the flow.

Found these trails when visiting family outside of Portland. I was stunned with how well maintained they were and what a great job they trail builders had done including manmade and natural features. While many other groups use the trails this is clearly a biking park. The west side of the park has a couple great climbs and downhills while the east side has tons of very well kept single track.

Bradbury is one of the best places in the state to ride. LBS adopted trails that are meticulously maintained and see quite a bit of traffic. There are two sections to the network; the Mountain side (east side), and the West Side (section across the road). I prefer the west side as the mountain side sees more hikers, trail runners, and overall foot traffic. There are several options on this side ranging from the gentle Knights Woods trail (an easy green with only one section of climbing) to the very challenging "O" trail. (rated a single black diamond) Not a whole lot of climbing in the network. Fairly flat but a great place to work on basic riding skills. Some man-made bridges along with the occasional skinny thrown in. (You can opt to ride around them if you want)

The scenery is great and certain trails will have you riding over a bog, through some gorgeous section of fern, and through some pretty sweet birch stands. One of my favorite places to ride in New England.

A word of caution...the west side trails also accommodate horses. (they stick to the Knights Woods loop and the snowmobile loop)

Great Single track, fort any level riders. The trail maps have improved and are posted at almost every trail intersection, so give it a shot, you will love it. There are some narrow single track trail that are easy to miss so keep your eyes open and have a blast.
