Mountain Biking Farmdale Reservoir Recreation Area

*****   Add a review
#4 of 126 mountain bike trails in Illinois
#302 in the world

There's everything from open fire roads to tight technical singletrack to man made obstacles and stunts. This place rocks. Other trails in this area that are must rides are Independence Park in Marquette Heights and Dirksen Park in Pekin. Jubilee State Park is also worth a visit.   Trails open Sunrise until 8:00 pm daily.  All trails closed during and for 24 hours after any rainfall.  Trails closed if there is a lake behind the dam.

I was traveling for a conference and brought my bike because I researched trails in the Peoria area. Farmdale was the first pick and I enjoyed 4 hours riding the trails. I think I hit all trails and many roads multiple times. There are trails for every ability. Schrolls trail was the most technical and fun with some nice obstacles. I stop counting the number of creek crossings. All where maneageable. You won't be disappointed with these trails.

This is a fun ride. There is a good variety of terrain and a nice mix of beginner and intermediate single track with go around options. No Trail Fee! Bugs were not bad at all on a hot and muggy day. There are a number of stream crossings which make the ride fun also. The trails are marked well to let you know that you are on the trail, but there are no maps on the trail to let you know where you are on the trail. Print a map and bring it with you. The ride will be much more enjoyable with a map. I would have rated this trail a 5 if there were maps on the course. Oh, and the large piles of horse manure that littered the trail in various spots.

One of the best of trails in the area. Schrolls is technical and fun. "Mike & Dons" and "Creek Side" are more flowing. There are a couple of short downhill sections that are part of the race series. Overall great variety.

My favorite place to ride. Plenty of miles of trails. It has everything from smooth rolling hills to intense downhills. Great place to ride if you are in the area.

This is an excellent place to ride in Illinois it has miles of single track that ranges from flowing fast smooth easy to intermediate skill with some small jumps and log rolls along the way. Also some decent climbs and decends and lots of switch backs in some areas. There are also some difficult sections to the trail schrolls is awesome also in the area on the map called playground there is sweet downhill called knock knock that I would recommend and last but not least to the left of the parking lot there is a jump line as well as four skinnys and three drops though the last I was there the highest drop was out of order. All in all if your in Illinois it's worth stopping. I've been going as much as twice a week since I first went and I live an hour and a half away.

Fantastic place to ride has a little bit of everything but mostly nice maintained single track but there are definetly challenges too. TNT whistler and scrolls where must ride trails and the downhill course is on top of blue chevy hill and the mtx (which is more like a spot to practice drops and a jump line with two skinnys) is right by the parking lot if your facing the park it's to the left and you can't miss it

This is a great single track mountain bike course. It has a little bit of everything. I live in the area and ride at Farmdale about twice a week. The trail Schrolls is a must ride.* Review edited 10/4/2011

When I have time to drive to East Peoria, this is where I go riding. The trails are maintained by PAMBA and they do a great job! It is a more XC type trail but if you want other challenges you can find them. Be prepared to get your feet wet!!

Great network of trails. They've managed to squeeze a little of everything in here, even a few jump lines. Lots of flowey single track. The multi use trails are fun, but the bikes only trails are a blast. If it weren't for the horse's I'd rate it a 5.

Farmdale is a great set of trails. Plenty of routes for beginners and it will keep advanced riders entertained as well. Very well maintained.

This course is very fast and very fun. Their downhill, MTX, and XC events are well put together and involve great people. If you'd like to take a look at footage of the MTX and Downhill courses check www.sicklines.com under the courses section. There are full first person views as well as video of riders bombing the courses.

Easily my favorite trail, huge loops of winding singletrack make long rides a blast and enough variety to satisfy every taste. For a good loop take a right out of the parking lot, cross the damn to Schroll's and take the big loop around.
