Mountain Biking Kepler-bradley Lakes State Park

*****   Add a review
#7 of 63 mountain bike trails in Alaska
#1,547 in the world

A series of Singletrack trails mostly following ridges and rolling terrain around several small lakes make for some extremely fun riding. There are also several miles of doubletrack, farm type roads around fields cultivated by the nearby University (please stay on the roads and do not ride across fields). With a fantastic combination of tight & twisty singletrack, doubletrack x-country, beautiful lakes, rolling fields and a backdrop of the surrounding mountains this is the perfect place to ride for an hour or an entire weekend, all within a few miles of Palmer or Wasilla. Within this park the Long Lake Connector trail starts and runs a few miles north through the Crevasse Moraine Trail System & Gooseberry Mesa adding many more miles of riding all within this area. Because there are so many trails in this 350 acre park, a map is highly advised and can be picked up at any LBS. There is a small campground and day use area near the lake at the main trailhead. This trail network was also host to the 24 Hours of Matanuska, summer ‘09.

Horses, dogs and some big fast hills. The trails get tricky when people are going every which way and there are horses, dogs and bikes involved. It's really lovely though and easy to get thoroughly confused about locations because there are lots of trails that connect and some bump into private property. You could spend hours back here and never loop over the same trail. Really lovely location!

These trails connect with a whole network or trails from beginner to more advanced, very hilly trails in Crevasse. The single tracks are getting better and better.

The combination of ski trails, double track and most of all the single track trails make make this a great place to ride. I spent 5 hours exploring as many trails as I could and didn't get all of them.
