Mountain Biking Scott Springs Park Trail

**   Add a review
#187 of 285 mountain bike trails in Florida
#6,053 in the world

A short loop that despite lack of rocks and roots is an intermediate ride that drops in and out of a retention pond, and has several small mounds and moguls.. Part of a park revitalization plan to place trails and skills parks thorough out the town.

So, I decided to go check out the skills section, before heading to Santos, to see if it would be good for my nephews to learn on. Short answer, it's not in my opinion. Whoever built the jump lines really needs to go see how they built them at Santos and replicate that. The jumps are at awkward angles, don't have much run-up, etc. Just seems really poorly planned. The only feature that remotely fun was the skinny. Doesn't look like anyone's ridden there in a while as well. Also tried the actual MTB trail...what a joke. Super overgrown and not fun, at all. I appreciate the city trying, but this seems like a major fail IMO. Don't waste your time, go to Santos instead.

The skills section is in decent shape, but the trail could use some love, overgrown in a few places.

Small like not even a 1/4 mile. Bridges are way too high. Wrecked twice

Trail is getting better as it gets more packed. They have added improvements to some of the corners to help with the flow.

Less than a mile of trail. Skills area says to be open summer 2015, but it looks like it's not been started.

Plenty of features packed into this area constricted trail. Can be ridden in either direction but I found it to have more flow counter clockwise. Very few rocks or roots, but of there are plenty of mogul type dips, a few swings in and out of a retention pond, plus one dirt covered tree trunk. This is the first of Ocala's urban mountain bike trails the city has planned. Additionally, there is a proposal to construct a skills park in the near future.
March 2016 edit: Skills park completed with two jump lines, a berm, a skinny and two logs to ride over.
