Some wet singletrack with several tight switchbacks and a small creek crossing bottoms out at the river, where it is best to walk across on the large rocks placed for that purpose. Post river crossing, the trail climbs fairly gently to the crest of the ridge and then falls along the ridge into a small gorge and runs out along the river to one stream inlet of Lake Julia. The top section of this trail is usually fairly dry and even a little sandy, but the downhill technical sections can be a little wet, though not as bad as Pisgah. From the lake, one has several options to return to the parking lot, and all involve climbing. Pick up a map.

From Brevard, travel south on 276 to Cedar Mtn, turn left at the fire department, and then right on Reasonover Rd after about 50 yards. Follow Reasonover for several miles to the sign for the Dupont Fawn Lake Access Area. Park in the gravel lot. Ride right past the map kiosk on the gravel road to the bottom of the hill and an intersection. Trail begins straight across.
Great trail overall. I took the counter-clockwise route from Fawn Lake Parking Lot. Smooth flowing, beautiful views and ends at a nice lake. Either direction would probably be a great ride.

| ThankThis is one fun little trail and proves that even the most obscure tracks in Dupont are worth riding. Relatively (keep in mind Pisgah's in the area) easy climbs, rockin' descents complemented by switchbacks a short technical sections, and a good sense of isolation make this a great addition to any route through the Forest.

| ThankMy first trek into DuPont since I was a kid (Dad worked at DuPont) back when it was a wilderness area. Now its a mecca for outdoor adventures. My first trip was the Reasonover trail with its seemingly endless climbs and downhill runs. It has everything from switchbacks, stream crossings, steep mountainside trails and flow y/curvy sections. You need to be in enough physical condition to be able to handle the elevation and distance. All in all, Reasonover is an enjoyable ride. You'll relish the descent from the old airstrip to the waterfalls below where a refreshing dip in the stream can be a welcome respite on a warm, humid day. Dad and I used to trout fish at the base of the falls in the '60s and 70's.

| ThankFawn Lake parking lot and road Fawn Lake Road up to the airstrip. Why is it called airstrip you ask? Because there is an actual tarmac airstrip in the middle of the forest. Gee, I wish I had flown my private plane in to ride...SO Airstrip the single track is an awesome, fast downhill. I hope (or think) that they should make this a one way trail. There is NO reason you should be riding it up. It is meant to be ridden down. We took a quick detour and headed over to Bridal Veil Falls. I am so glad that we did. What a site, and with the absolute silence of the forest you can hear the falls before you see them. Epic spot to stop and take a break. From there we found our way over to Reasonover Creek. Personally I felt that this trail was torture. Just when you thought you were done climbing, you start to climb again. It just seems to never end. We rode it clockwise, which I think was the wrong way to go. There is a downhill at the end (before the final, you guessed it, uphill) but we didn't think that the downhill was worth all of the uphill. I would think that this trail even in the counter-clockwise direction would be very climby. We were not almost 20 miles in for the day, so we partially chalked it up to fatigue, and it didn't ruin our day, but it was a tough way to end a great day.
