Mountain Biking Little River Trail #51

***   Add a review
#215 of 538 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
#5,040 in the world

Access this trail via Corn Mill Shoals Trail #19. This will connect you to Cedar
Rock Trail #16.

Compared to the rest of the trails at Dupont, the Little River Trail is
surprisingly flat! This flatness is a direct result of the fact that it parallels a
"little river" for its entire length. The trail width varies from singletrack to
doubletrack, and the tread is very sandy the entire way. This is a nice easy
pedal through the woods with several scenic spots... don't expect much
challenge unless you ride all the way to the end.

Getting there
"From I-26 South, take exit 9 (Asheville Airpot). Go to the right towards the
airport and Brevard. Go approximately 15 miles until NC 280 becomes US 276.
Follow this into and through Brevard (staying on four lane hwy). Go
approximately 9 miles past Brevard into Cedar Mtn, NC. Go left onto Cascade
Lake Road. Go about 2 miles and you will see the parking area on the left.

Smooth, relatively flat trail cruising through lush, fern filled forest. This trail connects to both ends of the cedar rock trail.

This trail really is no challenge at all except for the heinous climb right at the end of it that dead ends into private property. But really there's no reason to climb that: just connect to Cedar Rock about half way down this trail.

Like I said in the listing above, the trail tread is really sandy. When I rode through, it was very packed down so it was not tough to pedal on at all. There are several spots, though, where the trail is severely washed out. Keep your eyes open!

Definitely not very challenging, but the views of the little river are cool.
