Should I be concerned about my safety if I ride alone? Again, I’m not trying to stir anything up. Thanks in advance!

The slick rock and tech trails are great. I thought Turkey nob(maybe) was the best trail we hit. Ridgeline was as expected, flowy, fast an fun. Place is worth the trip!

If you’re looking for tech go down the road to Pisgah. DuPont is all about the flow; lots and lots of it. I’ve ridden the eastern and western portions and they both offer up some stiff climbing and a heap of ripping fast downhill. The sheer scope of the place might be a bit much to wrap your head around at first, but I’ve found it’s best to just turn down a trail and see what’s up. I haven’t been disappointed yet. Copious amounts of gravel are a great bonus and also a great way to link up sections of singletrack. The only major drawback is crowds, but I just go at dawn and I usually avoid that problem.

Some cool tech. Some good flow. Lots of very nice singletrack. Huge area with truly epic mileage available. The area actually rides like a group of different areas all interconnected, but not all the connections are great. Some trails are really just rehabbed roads or very wide crushed rock “trails.” Best to concentrate on one area at a time to maximize the fun factor.

It’s got it all: great downhill, fast & flowy, technical rock gardens, beautiful views, stream crossings, killer climbs, you name it. Only had one day so I mapped ~20m route that enabled me to incorporate some of DuPont’s best. Started from Lake Imaging. Worked my way up to Airstrip (incredibly views at the end of the old runway) and was a blast riding down. From there I climbed back up and took Reasonover to Turkey Knob – working my way east – which are great trails and eventually worked my way back north to finish on Ridgeline which is as good as advertised. I didn’t have an opportunity to hit up Cedar Rock or Big Rock but that’s certainly on the bucket list for the next time. Loved it!

Much of Dupont can be ridden with a hardtail without difficulty. Certain more technical trails, while they can be ridden on a hardtail, are a lot more fun on a full suspension (Burnt mtn/Big rock and the like).

At any of the bike stores in the area (squatch, hub, sycamore). or https://www.pisgahmapcompany.com/shop-trail-guides/dupont-state-recreational-forest Better than the online one.

Tough climb to the top, but well worth it! First, enjoyed the view. After that, I took the back way down Cedar Rock. It’s rated difficult, and the descent stretched my skills in a good way! Lots of whoops and endorphins along the way. Can’t wait to do this trail again! The slick rock is really cool. In general the terrain is not as rooty and technical as the stuff up in CT I used to ride. Not as many logs but great rocky drops! I’m a female biker and this trail was fantastic

The variety is truly astonishing, with the trails varying from slickrock to fast and flowy. My personal favorite is the Turkey Knob descent. You get the flow of Ridgeline and a natural environment that can’t be beat. That said, in Dupont it doesn’t really matter which trail you choose. Even if you were blindfolded and pointed at a random trail, it would still be one of the best you’ve ever ridden.

There is a ton of really good riding here, but it can be a bit of a maze and there are distinct sections, so having the map and planning out the ride before you get on the trail are pretty key steps to take. Don’t miss the Ridgeline Trail – it’s a flowy, rollercoaster of awesome.

Ridden in the Rockies, Midwest, and now this. Loved it very much, I’ll be back for sure. Ridgeline was insane man, rode that sucker 3 times and if my legs were not so torched I would have tried it once more. Man that was fun! Probably the one of the fastest bermy downhill sections I have done that felt like a coaster for real. I need to get over to Knoxville next and try this Barnburner & devils race track as I keep hearing so much about those. Hmm, are they better? ONly one way to find out. Anyway, much to ride here in Brevard, I need to spend a few days here. I know it won’t disappoint.

I’ll definitely be back more to explore.
