Mountain Biking Allegrippis Trails

*****   Add a review
#1 of 294 mountain bike trails in Pennsylvania
#16 in the world

The Allegrippis Trails are arranged as stacked loops, giving the user the opportunity to plan a route as short or as long as they would like. There are nearly endless combinations, so even riders who come back time after time have the opportunity to use a new route each time.

The North Side tends to be a little smoother, while the South Side is slightly rougher. Use Stony or the Old Loggers Trail as a connector between the two areas.

Rider questions

Q: Are there any bridges on the trail?
A: a couple very minor bridges. nothing freaky.

Q: Are there any bridges
A: All our bridges at Allegrippis are well-constructed. The narrowest one is 4 feet, but most are wider. They can be slippery when wet, and we do recommend dismounting when they're wet.

One of my favorite spots in the mid-atlantic. Great place for beginners and experts alike. Great flow. Campgrounds are great, lake is awesome for a dip after riding. Rent a houseboat to take it to the next level.

I drive 6 hours about 3 to 4 times per year to ride these trails. Trails offer beautiful scenery with fast flowing trails, slow climbs and a variety of trail combinations and the skills park is awesome. I can see why it’s ranked 12th in the world. If you like to go fast without all the technical stuff then you will love the Allegrippis. My son described it as riding a roller coaster on two wheels.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome. As the desire to smash my bike or body parts through a rock garden wanes with age, Allegrippis rarely disappoints. Take your Kayak or SUP for a post ride paddle on Raystown before settling in with a couple beers for the evening...the combo makes for a pretty perfect summer day.

Mid Nov 2019 - great trail system, fast flowy sections with rollers and punchy climbs. The leaves have fallen and covered the trails, but they were well ridden on and tracks were well marked. Both sides of the trails offered some great views and scenic parts of area. Would come back again!

I was riding here during the Dirt Rag Dirtfest 2019. It was a blast. The flow trails are fast with little or no technical traits. The climbs are long and slow. The trails are well maintained and it was a joy to ride them.

I look forward to riding them again!

This place is just plain fun. No, it's not technical, but it's fun and flowy. You can ride for hours and keep a smile on your face. If you want technical, the aptly names RothROCK is not too far away.

Muddy and lots of puddles ... but a fun ride. Looking forward to riding again in dry conditions.

Awesome variety of trails for all level riders. A few years ago they added a skills park to practice the skills you will need to have in order to get the most enjoyment out of the trails

I was here for Dirtfest 2014 so I only got to ride their demo loop but I loved it. It seemed like a good cross section of what central PA has to offer.

My only gripe are the rollers on Hydro. They seemed oddly spaced and I went down on them hard enough to leave by helicopter. I'm not sure if they've changed at all in nearly 4 years but I definitely need to go back and show that trail section who's boss. I blame the accident on rider error more than the rollers however.

Otherwise I eventually plan on making a trip back and sampling the rest of the trails. It really interested me and the fest was a great way to see what's available bike wise. 4 stars out of 5.

Mostly dirt fast straight pumptrack/singletrack without real natural terrain features. Perfect beginers and children.

Group of 5 experienced riders heading back for the 4th year in May of these amazing trails. We rent a house for the week and ride every day on different loops. Can't say enough good Bingham about the set up and flow of the trails.

Not my style of trail. But first, the positives....fast, smooth, good for a variety of skill levels. The bad...seriously repetitive. Roller after roller after roller. There's very little difference when comparing any two trails within this system. Now, I would ride these trails before I sat at home and did nothing, but for my time and effort I would absolutely head to Rothrock State Forest and attack the Central PA rocks.

This review is for people coming from outside of PA. I believe that the trail system is over rated because it is nothing more than ~30 miles of small rollers. Maybe its not over-rated because its a novelty in and of itself. However, each roller has a different grade/slope with variable distance between each such that climbing makes gear choice and cadence extremely frustrating after about ten miles of the same thing, over and over again. Over and over again. And then a little more. I realize that you can pump through a lot of these sections, but I grow weary of this after about an hour and desire something (anything?) different. As other reviewers have said, the trail is not naturally in sync with the terrain. This means that the fantastic Appalachia topography is not used to an advantage; rather the trail seems to abruptly cut through the terrain with the exception of some contour following. This is a shame in central PA because we are left with two extreme end-members: the largest pump track in North America and the super technical, hike-and-bike rocky ridges of the Valley and Ridge. The pump track would be cool if there were at least several faux doubles for catching air and several berms for whipping and pumping out of at high speed. Nope, just keep pumping those small rollers! The trail is smooth, with not much in the way of roots and rocks. Going down the endless rollers would be super fun, but the downhill sections are frustratingly short lived. Other than that, the trails are well-maintained, sustainable, and well marked. You don't need to bring a map and the cell service is good enough to run your favorite app. To each his own, but I do find critical reviews to be helpful when I am traveling and attempting to decide on a trail. I've ridden the trail system four times. I'm sure that I could learn to better ride the trail with greater efficiency, but like many cyclists in the state, we live nowhere near this place.

For length, flow , speed , quality, layout- absolutely phenomenal. When I Invision perfect mtb trail Allegrippis comes to mind. Some trails are tame, some are bombers, some are butter smooth(most), some have a little rock gnar. Perfect for a mtb trip , beautiful surroundings! Love this place.

First time ever at Allegrippis and it was amazing! Very fast and flowing, some challenges but overall not real technical. Can't wait to come back and ride here again.

Best trails I've ever been on! Like the reviewer before me, we drove 4 hours to get there, but it was well worth it. Fast, flowy, and smooth all the way. Be careful for bears!

TIP: If you park on the parking lot off of Baker's Hollow Road between Stony trail and Buck trail, make sure you go Buck trail -> Allegrippis trail -> Ridge trail -> Rays Revenge. Then take the Hydro Loop COUNTERCLOCKWISE. Best riding experience!

I drove 4 hours to this trail and it was worth it. Large trail system with endless loops. I rode most of the north section. I am a beginner mtb rider and found it to be a beginner-friendly trail. If you want to make it harder, just go faster. No obstacles at all and only 1 very small stream crossing that I cannot even really call it a stream crossing. A few rock gardens and a few climbs. I had to walk some of these sections. The roller-coaster style dips are great fun, and you can take these as slow or as fast as you want. Some great views high above the water. I stayed at the Susquehannock campground and picked up the trail from there. I did not find it to be crowded at all on the trail. I would like to come back at some point to complete the southern section.

OK, if you like typical flowing stuff without any local character. These trails are not my cup of tea, but are well built, sustainable and so many people love them. They are also well know, so if you do not like seclusion while riding this is a good place to go and have people riding behind, in front and to the side of you continuously.

Awesome trail system! Fast flowing singletrack with some good climbs and a few pretty intense rock gardens. Also there are a couple spots with some really nice lake views. I would highly recommend this trail to anyone.
