Nobody wants to have their bike stolen. Different types of locks offer different levels of protection, and some are more convenient to use than others. Whether you’re at home, out on the town, or driving to the trail, there are plenty of locks to choose from.
Kryptonite Cable with a U-Lock
Nothing is impervious to a portable grinder, so a lock is really to keep the honest peeps honest.
I said lock built in to vehicle rack, because I use the locks from 1-up USA that fit in their rack. I wouldn’t leave the bike for long, but gives me peace of mind if I have to run in a convenience store, and way more convenient than a cable lock.
When I take it out of town with me traveling for work I “hide” the bike underneath the locking hard cover of my truck AND cable lock it inside the truck as well. So only those people who see me put it under there at the trail would know its there, then have to follow me to the hotel, break into the cover, then cut the cable lock. Theft proof? Not a chance.
