The latest smartwatches and fitness trackers are pretty amazing. While the most basic can track our steps during the day, more advanced devices can watch our heart rate, track speed and distances, and even prevent us from getting lost. Still, they’re not for everyone and some bikers prefer a bar mounted GPS device. For still others, there’s no need for a watch, smartphone, or GPS when it’s time to ride.
If you regularly wear a wrist mounted fitness tracker or smartwatch, tell us which one in the comments below.
Garmin instinct
Garmin D2Delta.
Garmin Instint. I feel it’s not the most accurate, but it’s better than nothing.
Garmin fénix 7, bar mounted and a heart rate chest strap
Garmin vivoactive 4
Garmin Instinct
Photoplethysmography becomes too inaccurate when combined with motion. I wear my Whoop only while sleeping — it collects inaccurate data while on the mtb.
Apple Watch 7
Polar Grit X
Garmin Instinct – can handle the bashing that is MTB.
Have to wear it a certain way to work properly – pushed up my wrist slightly. I found it to be fairly accurate – off by most 5bpm when I hit 177bpm. Checked against my cardiologist equipment during a recent stress test. While resting it was accurate to the bpm. I’m sure everyone has different results.
Garmin Delta tactix
Coros Apex Pro
Replaced a Garmin 935 that sucked
Garmin Fenix 6 Pro solar. Great watch
Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire
